Joseph Clark was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas. He was brought to South Africa by the PACT Ballet Co. to dance the leading roles in Swan Lake, Papillion, Romeo & Juliet and Witchboy.
He was introduced to the theatre-going public in the national touring production of Singing In The Rain. Other highlights in musical theatre include the role of Buddy in The Buddy Holly Story, Riff/Bernardo in West Side Story, El Gallo opposite pop star Jason Donovan in The Fantasticks, Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar, the narrator in Joseph And His Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, Anthony in Sweeney Todd, Whizzer in March Of The Falsettos/Falsettoland and lead vocalist in QUEEN At The Opera*. In 2000, he was nominated as best actor in a comedy for his role in the one-man-play The Male Intellect - an oxymoron?
Joseph is a regular soloist with all the major symphony orchestras of South Africa. Highlights as a guest soloist include the popular Jhb Pops Concerts, Miss South Africa Pageants, singing the opening song at the International AIDS Conference with the late R&B singer TK and singing for Nelson Mandela at his 85th Birthday Celebration.
*In 1990 he appeared as lead vocalist in QUEEN At The Opera and toured South Africa until 1997 with this successful production playing The Durban Playhouse, The Standard Bank Arena, The Johannesburg Civic Theatre, The State Theatre, Pretoria, The Artscape Theatre and The Sand du Plessis Theatre in Bloemfontein. In 2002, Joseph (along with fellow QUEEN At The Opera soloist - Luciano Zuppa) appeared with the JPO in QUEEN - The Concert at the Sandton Convention Centre, The Durban Playhouse Theatre (with the KZNPO), the Spier Festival (with the CPO) and at the Feather Market Centre in Port Elizabeth (with the ECPO).
In 2004 he toured Italy and Germany performing his own tribute to the music of QUEEN. Since then he has been performing across South Africa with Joseph Clark - The Music of Queen, as well as with the shows Vivere with Jannie Moolman, Joseph Clark - Unplugged and African Crossing with the Gaabo Motho Tenors and Yollandi Nortjie. His long awaited album of all original music, "InStream" and live recordings "Unplugged Covered" and "Joseph Clark - The Music of Queen" are available at Look & Listen, on-line and at his live performances.
In 2009 he did two performances of African Crossing in Hamburg with the Gaabo Motho Tenors, soprano Yollandi Nortjie and the Amakhono We Sintu Dancers.
Joseph mainly does corporate entertainment and voice overs/jingles for radio and television.
